Phoenix Pride Events

The Phoenix Pride festival is one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in Arizona, drawing visitors from across the country for a two-day weekend of entertainment and activities. Held annually, the festival honors those who came before and paved the way for today's gay community, while also celebrating new and emerging leaders who continue to fight for equality in society. The Pride Parade is the highlight of the festival, featuring floats, marchers and more. The event promotes awareness and celebrates the Phoenix metropolitan LGBTQ+ community, as well as raising funds for local advocacy efforts through a series of community events.

This year's theme is "Believe In Yourself." The festival and parade take place Oct. 15-16 at Steele Indian School Park. Performing artists include Sir Elton John tribute artist Sherry Vine and the ultimate Viva La Vargas Drag Show at Karamba Nightclub, both of which require tickets to attend. The Family Fun Zone and VIP Experience are available for ticket-holders.

In addition to a wide variety Phoenix Pride events of food options and more than 300 exhibitors, the festival features multiple stages with live performances from musical acts and comedians. There is a Dance pavilion and Latin stage, as well as an Erotic World tent — a free, 18-and-older venue featuring adult product retailers and exotic dancers.

Phoenix Pride is a nonprofit organization that hosts community, educational and entertainment events throughout the year. Founded in 1971, the organization works to celebrate the history, courage and diversity of the Phoenix metropolitan LGBTQ+ community and raises money for local advocacy groups. The organization's mission is to increase worldwide awareness of the LGBTQ+ community to eliminate homophobia, transphobia and discrimination.

While the Pride festival is family friendly, it does have a strict zero-tolerance policy for fighting and unauthorized soliciters. Violators will be escorted out of the event. If you can't make it to the festival, you can still participate in Pride by volunteering at the event.

As more people get vaccinated and more places reopen, Pride in Phoenix is making a comeback after being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festivities kick off with the Parade on Sunday, which begins at 3rd Street and Thomas Road and runs up Third Street to Steele Indian School Park. If you're planning to attend, consider staying at an Embassy Suites hotel, which offers a free breakfast, indoor pool and gym.
